How Does It Feel?
i can't imagine how bad you must feel, knowing the trouble you've caused
surely you must lie awake every night, dreaming of paradise lost
why can't you admit that you could be wrong?
sometimes i wonder if you understand what you've done
how does it feel to know you're the one
who started the fire that ended the world?
you sold out the country to your privileged friends, you told all them queers to repent
you started a war that'll never be won with a truth you had to invent
you've made your point. we all know you're tough
some say you're evil, but i think you're crying for love
how does it feel to know you're the one
who started the fire that ended the world?
i'd like to believe that we'll find a way
to survive even you and maybe forgive you some day
the glaciers are melting, the hurricanes rage, the fat lady waits in the wings
you could have saved us so many times, but you don't believe she can sing
you must be ashamed. you've wasted the gift
now the universe laughs as we waddle over the cliff
how does it feel to know you're the one
who started the fire that ended the world?
you started the fire that ended the world
how does it feel?

New Orleans, New Orleans (Katrina Christmas)
all I want for Christmas is New Orleans back
some wetlands and a levee in Santa's sack
and please take a Bible to our dear president
his doesn't have the New Testament
he can talk about God 'til the cows come home
but what about the people in the Superdome?
"what you do to the least of these, you do to me"
now that's the kind of leader that I'd like to see
all I want for Christmas is Michael Brown
hanging by his thumbs from a tree uptown
I guess that's not very Christmas-like
so let him be our guest in the Ninth Ward tonight
he can sleep in the mud where children used to play
they're all gone far, far away
there's no room in the inn for those children of God
Brownie don't care, he's done a heck of a job
all I want for Christmas is New Orleans back
in Washington they wag their heads and say it's such a pity
but do you think they'd ask if we should rebuild New York City?
New Orleans, New Orleans
Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras, Tipitina's and Dr. John
New Orleans, New Orleans
Cafe du Monde, Wild Tchopitoulas, jambalaya and uptown ruler
New Orleans, New Orleans
the fat cats get their taxes cut, New Orleans sinks into the muck
New Orleans, New Orleans
